The History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies & Legal Studies Department at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position as an Instructor, Geography/GIS. The anticipated start date is August 11, 2025.
Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. Morehead State University is recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary instruction in Geography and GIS-related Geography courses, ranging from general education to elective and graduate-level courses as needed. The instructor will develop, and recruit students into, a GIS certificate. Potential areas for further collaboration include courses in Agriculture, Earth and Space Science, and Public Administration. Instructor teaches 30 credit hours per year.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in GIS or master’s degree in Geography with either GIS certificate or demonstrable proficiency in GIS software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in GIS or PhD in Geography with GIS certificate or demonstrable proficiency in GIS software. Prior teaching experience in GIS preferred.

Instructor will teach in a typical classroom environment or an internet based environment. Travel to a regional campus or off-site location may be required.
