The Development Officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement will play a pivotal role in supporting the resource acquisition, operational, and philanthropic services needs of the Office of Institutional Advancement at Morehouse School of Medicine. This role will focus on advancement portfolio support, storytelling, and stewardship. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Individual and Family Philanthropy, this person will work closely with the Comprehensive Campaign team to increase capacity through gift acquisition, stewardship, and operational excellence, particularly in the areas of individual donors, corporations, and foundations. Morehouse School of Medicine is in the midst of a $500M Comprehensive Campaign to support the strategic growth of the institution in the areas of education, capital expansion, innovation and endowment. This role will be a cross-functional partner advancing the school’s key priorities to grow critical resources for the institution. This is a pivotal time of high growth and this role has the opportunity to be an integral partner in advancing the goals of the philanthropy department.

- Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of potential donors and supporters, building and nurturing relationships, and ensuring their ongoing engagement with MSM’s mission and initiatives. This portfolio will include individuals, foundation and/or corporations.
- Recognition Programs: Develop and oversee donor recognition programs, ensuring that donors are acknowledged and appreciated for their generosity. Stewardship activities may include thank you letters and managing videos from students.
- Narrative Development: Craft and maintain narrative elements and leverage various platforms and outlets to share the Morehouse School of Medicine story with donors, ensuring they are well-informed about the impact of their contributions.
- Reporting: Collaborate with the team to create and manage reporting mechanisms that track the impact of donor contributions and communicate results to donors in a meaningful way.
- Events Support: Support special projects and events designed to engage donors, showcase MSM’s work, and foster donor relationships.
- Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison with key organizational departments and partners, facilitating collaboration and alignment between donor stewardship efforts and other institutional activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in an educational, non-profit, or business development setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
- Experience with a CRM such as Raisers Edge, Salesforce or equivalent.
