Position Description
Under supervision of Maintenance & Operations Supervisor or Nutrition Services Supervisor, receive, store, fill requisitions, and deliver school materials, equipment, supplies, textbooks, foodstuffs; operate a light or medium truck (including hand truck) and forklift; assist in conducting inventories in assigned categories; and do related work as may be required. Duties also include receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming/outgoing mail, and packages; receives and meters outgoing mail.

A. Receives and sorts incoming mail and packages for the school district-E
B. Distributes mail into proper system for delivery to schools and district departments-E
C. Inspects outgoing mail for proper preparation: weighs letter or packages and affixes
proper postage-E
D. Prepares and maintains records of postage, meter bulk mail, certified mail, and
registered mail-E
E. Operates office machines including postage machine and scale, orders postal supplies-E
F. Under direction, perform routine inspection of goods received against purchase orders
determining that items have been received in proper quantity and have not been
damaged in transit
G. Report damage, shortages, or goods not matching purchase orders
H. Store goods, placing in proper locations and rotating stock
I. May fill requisitions by retrieving supplies and materials-E
J. Wrap, pack and otherwise prepare goods for shipping or delivery; maintain a time
schedule for pickup and delivery-E
K. Load and unload trucks and delivery vehicles
L. Drive a District vehicle on a regular route to various schools and offices
M. Maintains gas, oil and water in assigned vehicles
N. Pick up and deliver school materials, equipment, supplies, textbooks, mail and food stuffs
to schools and offices
O. Operate other warehouse equipment-E
P. Keep storage areas, shelves and goods in a clean, orderly condition

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Procedures and practices of the U.S. Postal Service
Current postage rates
Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies
Ability to:
Follow receiving, checking, storing, issuing, packing and shipping directions
Operate District vehicles
perform simple clerical work and maintain records
Make accurate arithmetical calculations
Maintain a time schedule for pickup and delivery
Understand and carry out oral and written directions
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Learn and utilize new and current technologies
Perform work safely
Education and Experience:
Graduation from High School or equivalent
Individuals possessing the knowledge and abilities listed above are considered to possess
the necessary experience
License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License and driving record insurable to District
standards
Participate in District-provided safety inservice for forklift operation

Physical Abilities:
Heavy work - lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to approximately 100 pounds with
