Summary
The Community Navigator will serve as the access point to treatment and recovery resources for community members with substance misuse issues. This position would connect these individuals and/or their families with resources that can positively impact their challenges with addiction. Primary focus will be in three areas: patients with misuse/overdose diagnoses, drug-endangered children, and community members dealing with incarceration/rehabilitation or substance misuse.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
- Develop rapport with leadership teams in medical centers, schools, and jails/prisons.
- Establish relationships and network with community-based resources and faith-based organizations.
- Be knowledgeable about treatment and recovery support services that could assist those in need.
- Increase the access to evidence-based treatment and recovery support programs.
- Attend required trainings and organizational meetings to include regular Opioid Council meetings.
- Maintain or become certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
- Submit all required data components.
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations according to CADAS policy and procedures.
- When able, deliver presentations to civic groups or others on stigma association with substance abuse and addiction.
Qualifications:
Prefer four-year college degree or equivalent experience preferably in health education, social work, and/or behavioral health-related field. Have a minimum of two years of continuous, current sobriety and active participation in a recovery program (if someone with a history of addiction and in recovery).
Knowledge and Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal skills; advanced written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in coaching or consulting; effective leadership skills; excellent knowledge of common educational and behavioral health diagnoses related to trauma and evidence-based interventions for related needs; basic computer skills; knowledge of chemical dependency and the skill to effectively counsel individuals; background check required prior to employment; valid Tennessee Driver's License and proof of insurance.
