What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROGRAM SUPERVISOR position at Morgan County?
OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Recreation Director, each Program Supervisor will be responsible for the establishing of team rosters, drafting of participants, recruiting of coaches, maintaining, distribution and storage of respective equipment and uniforms, securing practice/playing facilities, game scheduling, game officials, and any other related responsibilities required to operate the program in a secure and proficient manner.
These individual Program Supervisors will report to the Recreations Director but may be asked to report to the board concerning program status, direction and future.
Each Program Supervisor will maintain all pertinent information regarding the disposition of equipment, needed equipment replacement etc. Any reimbursement or expenses incurred by a Program Supervisor should be pre-approved by the Recreations Director or Board as necessary.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a variety of routine field duties as needed to oversee the success of scheduled games for either youth or adult programs.
- Required to establish team rosters, drafting of participants, recruiting of coaches, tracking hours, getting all necessary paperwork done, etc.
- Create and email out teams and game schedule to participate and parents, educate youth and parents about the sports rules and COVID-19 precautions/restrictions if applicable, enforcing rules and policies, ensure safety and security of the participants and facility.
- Ensures proper maintenance and distribute of respective equipment and uniforms.
- Required to secure practice/playing facilities, game scheduling, game officials, and other responsibilities related to operating the games in a secure and proficient manner.
- May be required to attend scheduled games to assure efficient operations; sets up equipment and assures availability of program resources; serves as official departmental representative; mediates disputes between players, spectators and officials; controls the game or event by enforcing established rules, regulations and requirements.
- May be required to performs as official score keeper; makes final determinations related to winning teams, causes and need to declare forfeitures, etc.; may make decisions regarding player eligibility; maintains records of league standings.
- Assists in field preparation and maintenance as necessary.
ABOUT YOU:
Education & Experience:
- Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform above related duties; AND
- Experience performing above or related duties as a seasonal, part-time, or volunteer worker;
- OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques of developing and operating recreation programs; team sports management; community and public relations; rules and regulations of a variety of sports and recreational activities; of equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, various age groups, other organizations and the public; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
**In-person job duties required. Residency in Morgan is preferred.**
