JOB SUMMARY
The Processing Technician is responsible for the daily activities required maintaining all shop-floor quality documentation. Requires a high degree of interaction with shop floor production operators, front line supervisors, maintenance and USDA inspectors. The Processing Technician must be capable of performing analytical and sensory analysis of in-process and finished product. The Processing Technician will ensure (through coordination with the Processing department) adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). The Processing Technician reports directly to the QA Supervisor.
SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, AND/OR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for completion of Processing Technician all required analytical and attribute testing for in-process and finished product. The Processing Technician must record all results accurately and legibly.
Responsible for SSOP and GMP pre-operation inspection of processing equipment prior to the start of production operation. Coordinates with the Sanitation supervisor and the Processing supervisor to ensure all food processing equipment (and surrounding area) meet SSOP and GMP requirements.
Conducts inspections of ingredient storage areas. Coordinates with the Incoming Materials supervisor to ensure the ingredient storage area (dry and refrigerated) meet SSOP and GMP requirements.
Inspects incoming ingredients for adherence to analytical and attribute specifications. Accurately record results in ingredient log and SAP QM module task list.
Collates the required number of eaches (cans) for incubation requirements. Records accurately all results in the incubation logbook.
Conducts quality inspections of labeling area. Coordinates with the Labeling supervisor to ensure the can labeling area quality requirements.
Identify, coordinate segregation and isolation of substandard quality product (brite or finished product). Accurately record all substandard product in the quality hold log. Update SAP to isolate substandard quality product. Work with the Sensory supervisor to ensure quick disposition of substandard product.
Work effectively with the R&D department on special products approved by the QA manager.
Complete other tasks assigned by the QA supervisor or the QA manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
· High School degree required
· Prefer basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and science mathematics
· Excellent communication skills
· Basic computer skills (SAP experience a plus)
· Excellent attendance record
· Core Physical Requirements: walking (frequent); standing (frequent); climbing (moderate); lifting > 10 lbs (infrequent); bending at waste (moderate); reaching above head (infrequent); sitting (infrequent): typing on a computer keyboard (moderate). Environment: Plant –Primary (not climate controlled); Office – Secondary (climate controlled)
