We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialist to join our team and help students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) reach their full potential.
Job Responsibilities:
Creating an Engaging Learning Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation and enthusiasm for learning.
Personalized Instruction: Deliver Orton-Gillingham-based reading instruction in 1:1 or small group settings, specifically targeting students with IEPs. Tailor lesson plans to meet each student's individual needs.
Fostering a Supportive Classroom Culture: Promote a classroom culture that values learning, respect, and collaboration among students. Address any behavioral or academic challenges with care and professionalism.
Lesson Plans: Collaborate with the lead teacher and intervention specialist to create and implement lesson plans for students working with us on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Providing Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to students on their progress and provide guidance to help them build essential reading and literacy skills. Communicate progress to parents or guardians as needed.
Professional Development: Attend professional development sessions at the start of the school year and participate in any extra staff work days or trainings indicated throughout the year.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with fellow teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment that prioritizes student success.
Maintaining Records: Maintain accurate records of student sessions, session notes, and other relevant information to ensure effective tracking and reporting.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Ohio Educator ID required - valid teaching certification required.
Orton Gillingham certification required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, especially those with IEPs.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Technologically proficient - specifically with Google Suite.
