Estimator – Federal/DOD Construction
Location: St. Paul, MN
About The Company:
We are seeking an Estimator with 5 years of experience to join this premier Federal and Department of Defense (DOD) contractor specializing in complex vertical, horizontal, & demo construction projects in St. Paul, MN. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of self-perform concrete, selective demolition, and general trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for federal and DOD projects.
- Analyze design-build, selective demolition, and general trade scopes to ensure accurate pricing.
- Review project plans, specifications, and proposals to determine labor, material, and time requirements.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to develop competitive bids.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess project risks.
- Ensure compliance with federal procurement regulations and contract requirements.
- Assist in value engineering and alternative cost analysis.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably on federal or DOD projects.
- Strong knowledge of design-build, selective demolition, and general trades.
- Experience in both vertical & horizontal projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, HeavyBid, or similar).
- Familiarity with federal contract requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
