What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deck Security - LMC position at Mormac Marine Group Inc?
Under the supervision of the Mate on watch, this position will be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and customer service on the exterior decks of the Badger during daytime crossings.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- The primary duty of this position is to provide a clean, neat and comfortable environment for passengers to enjoy on the exterior decks of the ship.
- Primary tasks involve:
- cleaning, organizing and stacking deck chairs
- sweeping all exterior decks
- emptying exterior trash cans and taking trash bags to car deck
- mopping up spills on exterior decks
- spot cleaning bulkheads
- washing exterior windows
- Cleaning up vomit on exterior decks when necessary
Care and Comfort-
- This will involve tasks such as wiping ash and water off of deck chairs for passengers, assisting passengers in moving deck chairs or chaise lounge chairs.
- Offering knowledgeable advice to passengers as to where the best places to sit will be on each crossing. Based on wind conditions, sun, inclement weather etc.
- Offering assistance to any passenger(s) who may need it.
- During inclement weather and/or rough seas, assist passengers who are ill.
Safety
- The safety of LMC’s passengers and crew is paramount. Employee must be knowledgeable of all safety procedures and able to recognize unsafe situations for passengers and crew and take the proper action to resolve them.
- Knowing the fire and lifeboat stations along with all signals and procedures associated with an emergency in order to properly carry out a fire and lifeboat drill to Coast Guard standards.
Other Duties-
- An employee may be requested to serve in other areas when necessary according to staffing needs in those areas.
- To be flexible and adaptable to serve in other areas when necessary
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Valid Merchant Mariners Credential and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)*
- Training and licensing offered before the sailing season begins.
Starting pay for this position is $14.00/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.
