Overview:

The Associate Manager works within the Product Development team to help drive calendarized and non-calendarized initiatives for Moroccanoil. The Associate Manager will assist in the development of company products, research and analyze current market/ingredient trends, and communicate and manage relationships with various vendors. In addition, will be responsible for the project execution of products. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, solution-focused, highly detail-oriented, organized and able to work autonomously. Ease and openness in working closely with co-workers, a can-do attitude is essential.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

DEVELOPMENT

• Work closely with the Sr. Manager to help drive assigned calendarized launches in all stages from concept to on-counter.
• Collaborate with PD team to evaluate all product submissions on a timely basis. Communicate desired modifications to the lab in a timely manner.
• Manage the product development process as follows: Organization for all benchmark submissions, standards and other related products; Actively participate in research of new product ideas (visual and literal); Responsible for preparing presentation boards; Support in preparation of Turnover sheets; Manage product samples with PD, Marketing and Education.
• Update weekly PD status to ensure all formula development is on track. Consistently maintain an updated program tracker for all projects.
• Provide support in conducting products testing and create questionnaires, analyze data and give redirects to the lab.
• Interact regularly with R&D, outside vendors and PD team members.
• Collaborate with PD team to evaluate new submissions against prototype or standard for all formula aesthetics. Manage the redirect process with the lab or subcontractor to ensure all formula modifications are conveyed clearly and precisely.
• Maintain an updated log of all submissions received and their status.
• Oversee submissions for Lab, Pilot and Production to ensure proper coding and organization
• Manage day-to-day maintenance of development (reestablishment of standards, labeling submissions, etc.) and assist in development of new programs, from concept to launch.
• Works with the Sr. Manager to put together presentations and conduct research on new ingredients, products etc.

RESEARCH

• Act as a resource within the PD community for innovation and development.
• Keep abreast of competitive product launches and new technologies.
• Coordination of internal panel tests, track and tally test results and present to team.
• Help source and identify new concepts, ingredients and product forms. Obtain research for new product ideas (visual and literal).
• Assist in preliminary literature and competitive research for product presentations, to assist in identifying visual aids. Assist department in making presentation boards.
• Attend Industry Forums when available in order to learn more on research and development in skincare.

COMPETITIVE

• Send out weekly round-ups by tracking internet beauty blog sites and pick up on trends to keep abreast of the marketplace activity
• Perform quarterly store visits to keep abreast of new launches, innovative marketing and merchandising tactics; report findings to team.
• Maintain organized bins and filing system for competitive products.

Characteristics:

• 2-3 years’ experience within a beauty industry product development environment.
• Strong interpersonal, creative, communication (verbal, written) and analytical skills
• Highly organized and focused while able to multi-task and adapt to changing priority levels for ongoing projects
• Be adept in time management, execution, follow up, and have an attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively across functions, to work independently, and to take initiative when appropriate.
• Open to being edited and working on multiple revisions in varying time frames
• Proficient in Microsoft applications
• Proficient in obtaining data through Mintel, NPD, etc.
