What are the responsibilities and job description for the NAGPRA Coordinator position at MORONGO BAND OF MISSION INDIANS INC?
The NAGPRA Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing repatriation efforts relating to the Federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA- 25 U.S.C. §§ 3001-13) and its accompanying regulations (43 C.F.R. §§ I0.1-.17) as well as relevant State legislation including CalNAGPRA (AB978) and its amendments (i.e., AB275, AB389). They will lead the Morongo NAGPRA committee and must remain engaged during each step of the repatriation process, always remaining committed to the current repatriation goals of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Furthermore, the NAGPRA Coordinator will strive to present informational reports and documentation that will enable informed decision-making regarding repatriation efforts for both the Morongo NAGPRA Committee and Morongo Tribal Council.
