What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paratransit (Dial A Ride) Driver position at MORONGO BAND OF MISSION INDIANS INC?
Drive a Paratransit vehicle (bus) along a designated route; pick up and drop off tribal elders, seniors 55 , students and persons with disabilities in accordance with time schedules; observe legal and defensive driving practices; assure compliance with applicable traffic and transportation laws, codes and regulations.
Maintain order and discipline among passengers on the bus and while waiting at bus stops in accordance with established policies; and prepare related reports as necessary.
Conduct required daily safety inspections of bus; inspect the interior, exterior and engine of bus to assure safe operational condition; report mechanical malfunctions or other problems as required; and prepare and maintain related records.
Maintain bus in a clean and safe operating condition; wash, sweep and clean; and refuel service and prepare vehicle for operation.
Transport designated passengers; meet scheduled departure and arrival times as assigned; and prepare related logs and reports.
Determine appropriate action/response in emergency situations according to established guidelines; and administer first aid to passengers as needed.
Prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records related to transportation activities, including vehicle inspections, incident reports, daily activity logs, time sheets and related documentation as required.
The driver is required to push, pull and/or maneuver passengers and their wheelchair which can weigh between 200 – 450 lbs.
