The Morris Arboretum & Gardens, located in Chestnut Hill, is hiring a Rental Manager. The Rental Manager oversees all aspects of the Arboretum’s extensive Rental Program (overly 100 events annually). The Manager is responsible for meeting revenue goals, supervising rental staff and third-party vendors, ensuring exceptional customer service, and managing rental operations and bookings. The Rental Manager acts as the main point of contact for all booked clients and rental activities, ensuring smooth events and happy clients.
DUTIES:
Client/Customer Service
The Rental Manager works toward ensuring that the Arboretum’s rental clients have a wonderful experience, which requires extensive communications and planning. The Rental Manager acts as the primary point of contact for all contracted rental clients. They will communicate with clients regarding contracting, planning, policies, problem-solving and payments. The Manager also spearheads booking new clients, which includes on-site venue tours and potential client communications. They will plan for and address client satisfaction, while adhering to Arboretum policies and procedures.
Staff & Event Management
The Rental Manager supervises, supports, and coaches a diverse group of 5-8 part-time rental staff, ensuring a high level of professionalism and service-orientation. They are the on-site manager for rental events throughout the year. The Manager serves as the on-call manager for rental-related emergencies. The Rental Manager manages relationships and quality assurance with third-party vendors (primarily caterers) who serve on-site during events.
Operations
This role entails operational responsibility for the Rentals Program, including: event staff scheduling, financial transactions, client contracting, and managing event details/activities. The Rental Manager collaborates with the Facilities and Visitor Experience departments on event logistics.
Marketing & Business Development
The Rental Manager spearheads Rental Program marketing initiatives. Generates ideas for new revenue-generating rental options and for improving current rental offerings. Stays abreast of rental/wedding trends and demand.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be successful in this role, the new Rental Manager will be:
- Customer focused and have extensive experience serving customers/clients in a rental-related operation, preferably weddings.
- Experienced with managing and planning events, preferably in a leadership capacity. Experience with events sales a plus.
- Able to demonstrate experience with and the ability to manage staff.
- Calm under pressure, comfortable interacting with diverse groups, and able to think on their feet. The ideal candidate will have experience working with wedding couples or similarly intense groups of people.
- Experienced with rental/event-related marketing and sales.
- Professional, self-confident, comfortable addressing issues directly, and willing to jump in where needed.
- Great with details and information.
- Strong with both verbal and written communications.
- Able to laugh when unexpected changes occur.
The candidate will also have:
- A high school diploma/GED and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education an experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- The ability and willingness to work regular weekends and evenings.
- The stamina to work outside and be moving regularly.

Pay Range
$20.45 - $31.00 Hourly Rate
