Morris James LLP, a leading Delaware law firm, seeks an enthusiastic, personable and highly organized Legal Administrative Assistant to support a team of attorneys specializing in medical malpractice cases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks in a fast-paced legal environment. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with clients and prospective clients. An understanding of medical terminology, patient care protocols, and malpractice litigation is preferred. This position is full-time, non-exempt, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (with one hour lunch break each day.) Salary is commensurate with experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update case files and databases.
- Coordinate medical record retrieval and review for cases.
- Manage attorneys’ calendars, schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and court dates.
- Prepare, file, and organize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and subpoenas.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and correspondence with clients, experts, witnesses, and medical professionals.
- Draft and proofread legal correspondence and documents.
- Work with accounting team regarding billing, conflict checks, and managing case related expenses.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of experience in a legal administrative assistant role, preferably in medical malpractice or personal injury law.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and cloud-based filing systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in legal and medical documentation.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and manage sensitive or confidential information.
- Knowledge of medical malpractice law and relevant legal processes is highly desirable.
- Strong service-oriented approach and positive, friendly attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a diverse group of clients & professionals in person, by email, and telephone to provide information with tact and diplomacy.
