The Marketing and Business Development Manager at Morris James LLP will play a critical role driving the firm’s growth and reputation by developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives and fostering business relationships, with particular focus on the national markets. This individual will manage and mentor Marketing and Business Development Coordinators in their roles and collaborate closely with partners and attorneys to identify new opportunities, enhance the firm’s market presence, and support client acquisition and retention efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legal industry and be adept at leveraging marketing tools to promote the firm’s services.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to strengthen the firm’s brand and market position.
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, including social media, content marketing, and email campaigns.
- Design and manage firm-wide marketing collateral (website content, newsletters, press releases, case studies, presentations, etc.) ensuring high quality and consistency.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to inform marketing strategies.
- Work with attorneys to highlight the firm’s expertise and key practice areas through blogs, articles, and thought leadership pieces.
- Oversee the firm’s social media presence, ensuring it reflects the firm’s values and engages with the legal community and clients.
- Plan and manage webinars, seminars, and other client events to showcase the firm’s expertise and build client relationships.
Business Development Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities to expand the firm’s client base across targeted practice areas.
- Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, referral sources, and key industry stakeholders.
- Work closely with attorneys to develop and implement client acquisition and retention strategies.
- Support client pitches, proposals, and presentations to prospective clients, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strengths.
- Coordinate the preparation of RFP responses, client proposals, and pitch materials tailored to prospective clients’ needs.
- Assist attorneys in preparing business development plans and goals, providing guidance on networking and marketing efforts.
- Track and report on business development efforts, using data to refine strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a discipline requiring writing, research, and analysis (Master’s degree or JD preferred).
- , ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of the legal industry, legal services marketing, and regulatory considerations.
- Proven ability to create and manage successful digital marketing campaigns (SEO, SEM, social media, etc.).
- Experience working with CRM systems, business development software, and legal marketing tools (e.g., InterAction, LexisNexis, or similar).
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with senior-level stakeholders and clients.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven with strong analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a law firm or legal marketing role.
- Familiarity with legal directories and awards submissions (e.g., Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, Best Lawyers).
- Knowledge of legal industry trends and insights related to client development and market positioning.
