Description
Job Title: Specimen Collector
Reports To: Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Collector is responsible for efficiently and safely obtaining urine, oral and blood samples from patients, entering patient information into the electronic system and packaging and shipping all specimens to the laboratory for the purpose of analysis. The position requires constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy required in completing all assignments. The collector assists the medical department/pharmacy with other duties such as breathalyzers, blood draws (if qualified), pregnancy tests and other administrative duties. Additionally, the collector assists the front office with day-to-day functions and supports clinic operations as-needed.
Qualifications/Education:
1. HS Diploma with 1-year experience OR
2. Current medical certification (i.e., CMA, LPN, CNA) is recommended.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and follow-through on all assignments.
5. Ability to work early morning hours Monday-Friday (5:15am-11:15am). Staff meetings will extend hours at the end of day
6. Experience working in behavioral healthcare is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the collection, processing and shipping of specimens.
2. Follow departmental policies to correctly identify the patient before any specimen is obtained.
3. Observing and properly label and document the specimens.
4. Prepare specimens for shipment.
5. Maintain an adequate inventory level of supplies.
6. Ordering supplies as needed. (After approval from PD or Lead Nurse)
7. Demonstrate customer service, compassion, and appropriate communication when interacting with patients, physicians and medical extenders and clinic staff.
8. Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and strictly adhere to compliance guidelines.
9. Maintain open communication with Program Director and Lead nurse.
10. Performing other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
11. Attend treatment team and staff meetings.
12 Maintain Confidentiality and abide by HIPAA Privacy Act and 42 CFR Section 2

Salary
$18 - $23 per hour
