What are the responsibilities and job description for the MH Lead Construction position at Morton Hospital?
Acts as the working lead for all plant operations licensed trades staff (Electrician Plumber and HVAC). Performs all job responsibilities/duties of his/her licensed trade as well.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates solid understanding of hospital facilities related systems and their operation.
- Consistently maintains knowledge of current standards in the health care industry specifically an understanding of Life Safety and Utility Systems testing for Joint Commission compliance
- Assists the department director with ensuring all required Life Safety Utility and Manufactures Recommended Preventative Maintenance Items are completed on time and to appropriate standards to include documentation of work as needed.
- Recognizes when quality is compromised. Assists department director and hospital management with implementing opportunities for improvement. Collaborates with department director in setting realistic long-and short-term goals consistent with organizational needs and priorities.
- Using the computerized maintenance management system actively participates in development of process to measure quality of service provided assists in collection of data and provides opportunity for staff to participate in the process.
- Shares information with staff and utilizes these findings to enhance quality of service provided.
- Makes recommendations for capital and small expenditures staff mix and contracts with consideration to projected volumes and needs and supports the department director in effectively managing the department within budgetary constraints..
- Monitors and evaluates usage of supplies and equipment and make appropriate recommendations to the director.
- Demonstrates awareness of current departmental needs based on a thorough understanding of day to day operations.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of current technical and clinical skills.
- Displays ability to identify operational problems and utilizes appropriate actions and communications to resolve them.

- Prepare cost estimates for work; coordinate purchases of supplies and material with vendor and facilities accounting staff.
- Prepare and alter inspection methods and schedules for preventive maintenance as required. Instruct others in proper operation and methods of troubleshooting of various pieces of equipment.
- Prepare correct modify or revise sketches drawings flow diagrams and technical reports to reflect new installments or changes.
- Estimate and review records of time materials and parts consumed by department; establish time and material standards for completion of work.
- Interface with other departments to assure work is completed with the least possible disruption to the medical center.
- Correct modify or revise drawings to reflect new installations or changes.
- Perform all responsibilities of lower level applicable licensed trade work such as installs repairs modifications and maintenance of trade specific systems and equipment as needed.
- While in the performance of routine duties may be required as needed to perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower graded classification where the work or task does not require a specific license. Participates in mandatory programs and facilitates staff attendance.
- Provides orientation to new plant operations licensed trades staff.
- Identifies and addresses safety issues and/or refers them to management.
- Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-7 years prior related experience as a licensed journeyman (Electrician Plumber or HVAC).
- Background in healthcare or biomedical industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in facilitating efficient workflow and productivity of maintenance and/or construction staff preferred
- Is cooperative in interactions treating customers with courtesy respect and compassion.
- Is patient when responding to questions and answers questions appropriately.
- Responds to requests in a timely manner.
