Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SolidWorks Design Engineer with a strong background in motion-based mechanical systems to join our engineering team. This role involves the design and development of precision mechanical components and assemblies involving motion control, such as linear actuators, robotics, conveyors, automation systems, or other dynamic mechanisms.
As a key contributor, you will play a hands-on role in the full product lifecycle-from concept and modeling through prototyping and release. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented mechanical engineer with deep SolidWorks proficiency, a passion for innovation, and a solid understanding of motion mechanics and design for manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, model, and detail motion systems and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks
- Develop 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and exploded views for production
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and ensure manufacturability of components and assemblies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing
- Apply engineering principles to analyze and optimize kinematics, load paths, and material choices
- Select mechanical components such as motors, bearings, gears, pulleys, linear guides, and actuators
- Participate in design reviews and support prototype builds and testing
- Revise and improve existing designs for performance, reliability, and cost optimization
- Document design changes and maintain version control using PDM/PLM systems
- Assist in resolving technical issues during assembly, test, or field operation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 4–9 years of professional mechanical design experience with a focus on motion systems
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings, simulations)
- Strong understanding of motion mechanics, kinematics, and dynamic systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, etc.)
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM principles
- Experience working with PDM or PLM systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mechatronics or automation systems
- Familiarity with motion control hardware (servos, stepper motors, encoders)
- Exposure to FEA or motion simulation tools (SolidWorks Motion, Ansys, etc.)
- Understanding of safety standards for moving machinery or robotics
- Hands-on experience in prototyping or working closely with machine shops
