What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director – Moscow Day School position at Moscow Day School?
Moscow Day School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Executive Director to lead our established childcare and early education program. As a community-supported nonprofit, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children while supporting families and staff with high-quality care and education.
The Executive Director will work in close partnership with the Board of Directors to implement the school’s vision, ensure operational excellence, and uphold the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration
- Collaborate with the Executive Board to refine and implement the school’s strategic vision
Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with all local and state regulations
- Maintain and develop staff and family handbooks, policies, and procedures
- Serve as the public face of Moscow Day School, fostering strong relationships with families and the community

- Staff Management
- Hire, train, and supervise all staff, including conducting interviews, reference checks, and annual evaluations
- Maintain appropriate teacher-child ratios in each classroom per city licensing requirements
- Create and manage staffing schedules and classroom coverage; step into classrooms as needed
- Facilitate regular team meetings and professional development sessions

- Train staff on IdahoSTARS/RISE platform and support ongoing education
Family & Community Engagement
- Act as a point of contact for families, addressing needs with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Maintain clear communication through conferences, newsletters, digital platforms (Procare, Facebook, Slack, etc.)
- Provide school tours and onboarding for new families; manage ongoing enrollment and waitlists
- Support school committees in fundraising, grant writing, maintenance, and recruitment efforts
Financial & Licensing Oversight
- Ensure timely billing, tuition collection, and payroll processing
- Maintain accurate records through Procare and QuickBooks; provide monthly reports to the accountant
- Monitor and update compliance with licensing requirements from Health and Welfare
- Qualifications:
- Degree in ECE ( Preferred)
- Experience in early childhood education, program administration, or nonprofit leadership.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Familiarity with IdahoSTARS, Procare, QuickBooks, and early learning standards (preferred)
- Commitment to inclusivity, communication, and community engagement
