Job Title: Paraprofessional Tier I and Tier II
Reports to: Superintendent
Employment Terms: 170 Contracted Days

Position Summary:
The Paraprofessional willsupport teachers in meeting the educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Supports teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom (in-person) and community
· Provides small group and/or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the student's IEP and the supervising teacher’s lesson plans
· Collects instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught to each student
· Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues
· Responds to emails and phone calls from staff, and teachers promptly
· Assists during standardized testing to support state and local testing processes and policies.
· Assists with the preparation of daily lesson plan materials and makes copies of materials for students
· When in a school-based learning environment, monitor students' movement throughout the building to other classrooms, learning areas, and cafeteria
· Assists students with classroom and cafeteria clean up to uphold a safe school environment
· Assists administrators and other staff members in the orderly, expedient, and safe transition of students from one location to another
· Engages in professional learning opportunities in person
· Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular school hours
· Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
· Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development
· Knowledge of school safety & security procedures
· Excellent writing and communication skills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Qualifications:
· CPR Certified and ability to perform basic first aid
· Good Attendance and Work Record
· Pass a background check
Minimum Requirements for Paraprofessional Certification:
Tier I Paraprofessional - Meet one of the following criteria
· Current Oklahoma Paraprofessional Certification - OR
· Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education ( no less than 48 hours of college coursework) - OR
· Earned an Associate’s Degree or higher – OR
· Take and pass an ACT WorkKeys Assessment scoring Bronze or higher
· Complete Paraprofessional Tier 1 training at an OSDE training provider
· Complete 6 hours of professional development each year to include Bloodborne Pathogens
· Pass a background check
Tier II Special Education Paraprofessional – Meet one of the following criteria
· Complete and hold a Tier 1 Paraprofessional Certification
· Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education ( no less than 48 hours of college coursework) - OR
· Earned an Associate’s Degree or higher – OR
· Take and pass an ACT WorkKeys Assessment scoring Bronze or higher
· Complete Paraprofessional Tier II Special ED training at an OSDE training provider
· Must be CPR Certified and have First Aid Training
· Complete 6 hours of professional development each year to include Bloodborne Pathogens
- Pass a background check
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
· Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job duties/responsibilities
- Have dexterity to operate office/instructional machines
- Ability to hear clearly and read body language, while reinforcing instructions in a calm, positive manner
- Requires bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling and lifting of up to 50 lbs
· May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
· May involve work in crowded environments
- Assists with toilet duties, hall monitor, class changes and recess with constant interruptions
- May be exposed to hitting, biting, kicking, and other physical resistance by students
- Must follow bloodborne pathogens protocols when handling bodily fluids and disinfecting equipment
- Must be able to supervise students inside the working classroom, outside of the classroom with limited supervision
- Must be able to communicate with students, staff, and parents
- Some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty
