Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Property Accounting Assistant / Bookkeeper to support our accounting team in managing financial transactions related to property operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in bookkeeping, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Transactions & Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of property income and expenses, including rent payments, vendor invoices, and operating costs.
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
Tenant & Vendor Accounting:
- Track rent payments, generate invoices, and follow up on delinquent accounts.
- Assist with lease administration, ensuring proper documentation of rental agreements and renewals.
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with property managers and tenants regarding financial matters.
Administrative & Compliance Support:
- Maintain organized records of financial transactions, invoices, and contracts.
- Assist in preparing tax documents, audits, and compliance reports.
- Support the accounting team in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning tasks.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or property management accounting experience preferred.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Software: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio, or other property management/accounting software preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Other: Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently or as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
