Pharmacy Technician
Reports to: Pharmacist in Charge
Job Summary:
The pharmacy technician will support pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and compounding nonsterile and/sterile medications. Under the supervision of the Staff Pharmacist and the Pharmacist in Charge, the pharmacy technician obtains new prescription refill information from customers such as name, address and health coverage.

Responsibilities:
- Processes medication orders or prescriptions
- Supports the pharmacists in more complex batch preparations according to a predetermined formula
- Fills bottles with prescribed medications and types labels for bottles
- Assists pharmacist in preparing and dispensing compound medication
- Gathers patient specific data for prescription and billing processing including but not limited to third party payers, delivery preferences, allergies, etc.
- Operates and uses appropriate techniques within systems for storage, preparation and dispensing of medicinal agents
- Follows pharmacy policies regarding compound medication preparation, labeling, and controlled substances reconciliation
- Supports in purchasing of pharmaceuticals and supplies
- Helps maintain orderly, clean environment in the Pharmacy, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies
- Places stock on shelves or racks
- Collects/picks up empty containers or rejected merchandise
- Receives and stores incoming supplies; counts stock and enters date in computer to maintain inventory records
- Cleans equipment and compounding utensils according to prescribed methods
- Helps patients in dropping off and picking up prescriptions
- Handles phone inquiries
- Enters patient purchases on pharmacy cash registers
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical products and services preferred
- Strong organizational skills; math skills; attention to detail
- Must be licensed by the State of South Carolina as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
- State and National Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
