OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The Post-Award Contract Manager will report directly to Mother Africa’s Deputy Director and manage a portfolio of financial reporting and fiscal compliance of multiple government contracts and grants totalling over one million dollars. Many of these contracts are reimbursement-based and include city, county, state, and federal awards. After onboarding, the Post-Award Contract Manager will own financial and fiscal reporting and invoicing for their portfolio and will feel comfortable leading in the following roles and responsibilities:
Roles & Responsibilities
- Partner with Program Managers on grant fund expenditures, ensuring grant funds are expended according to award terms
- Manage regular invoicing schedules for multiple six-figure government contracts with varying levels of complexity
- Monitor and maintain contract reporting schedules and requirements
- Serve as contact point with agencies for fiscal matters; interface with funders as required to ensure contract compliance
- Ensure consistent application of federal policies related to fiscal matters
- Participate in contract set-ups and close-outs
- Contribute sound guidance and direction regarding organizational fiscal and financial management
- Develop and implement practices to ensure smooth operations for independent annual audits and desk monitoring from funders
- Develop donor relations database and metrics for donor behavior
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
- Work closely and cooperatively with Deputy Director, bookkeepers and program managers
- Other tasks as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience with nonprofit finance, grant-based accounting, and fiscal grants management of federal and non‐federal funds
- Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience participating in government contract audits
- Strong knowledge of reimbursement contract compliance
- Comfortability and familiarity with culturally rich environments; strong cultural awareness and appreciation
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
- Proficiency with Google Suite products
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Nonprofit Management or related field; or professional certification (CRA, CPA, or equivalent)
- Experience writing Federal Grants and budgets and/or managing them
- Proficiency in an African language
- Proficiency with Aplos software
- Experience living or working in an African country, or with African communities here and/or lived experience as an immigrant or refugee in the US
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit at a desk for four or more hours per day.
