Mother Jones is an independent news organization that specializes in investigative journalism. Our website, MotherJones.com, has seen record increases in traffic over the past several years. We are beginning a multiyear project to improve, update, and expand our operations. As a web developer, you will play a key role in helping us build a new and more powerful platform for hard-hitting investigative news.You will be joining a small team of developers working in the heart of the newsroom. We have a strong preference for open-source solutions and work in an agile manner, with brief daily meetings and weekly code pushes. Online news is a rapidly evolving field, and the job will offer many opportunities for learning new skills.This is a full-time position, working in our downtown San Francisco office, two blocks from the Montgomery Street BART / Muni station. Solid knowledge of one or more programming languages (Python, Java, PHP, etc.)Solid knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSSExperience working with a content management systemNice-to-haves :
