Position Summary:
The Pastry Cook is responsible for always delivering the highest quality food and service. Cooks specialize in creating confectionery and other pastry-based items.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Bake items according to the recipes provided by the Pastry Chef.
- Follow all portion standards.
- Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
- Ensure all plating and display standards are consistent and met.
- Applying classic pastry baking techniques when preparing Chef Recipe pastries.
- Monitoring equipment and ensuring all specialized pastry baking tools are in working order.
- Maintain inventory or prepped ingredients.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations
- Ensure the station is sanitized and cleaned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to bend or lift 50 pounds or more.
Skills / Experience:
- At least two (2) years’ experience as a pastry cook, baker, or similar role.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to focus, multitask and work well under pressure.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays when required.
- Must have SNHD Food Handler card up to date.
