The Role
As the Café Manager, you’ll be the Director of Operations’ trusted right hand, focusing on growth, development, and collaboration with your team. You’ll help cover shifts, handle errands, coordinate deliveries, manage inventory, schedule staff, attend performance reviews, and assist with various administrative responsibilities. Most of your time will be spent in our cafes, acting as the eyes and ears for the Director of Operations and working alongside baristas to ensure smooth operations.
Your primary mission? Partner with the Director of Operations to lead the daily management and culture of our cafes. You’ll hone your skills in active listening, problem-solving, and fostering a positive, team-oriented environment. Leadership at Mothership Coffee and Sunrise Coffee extends beyond tasks—it’s about inspiring positive change, embracing authenticity, and radiating care for others.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Cover weekend shifts and find coverage as needed.
- Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of coffee equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and maintain inventory levels.
- Keep financial records of daily, weekly, and monthly performance and propose strategies for improvement.
- Implement and uphold waste management protocols.
- Innovate new menu items based on seasonality and customer preferences (e.g., vegan coffee options).
- Exemplify exceptional customer service and advise on guest recovery practices.
- Ensure cafes maintain cleanliness and organization inside and out.
- Support the Director of Operations in team initiatives and operational projects.
- Enforce health department compliance with food and beverage safety policies.
- Administer disciplinary actions and track employee performance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Prior experience as a barista or server is a plus.
- Background in food prep, customer service, or hospitality is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
