What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager, Investigations (Americas Region) position at MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION INC?
This position is responsible for leading and managing personnel working on the content protection objectives of the Motion Picture Association, Inc. (“MPA”) and Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (“ACE”) members. This role will include supervising the team’s investigations and operations as well as assisting the Vice President in executing the regions’ CP strategy. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a passion for inspiring and collaborating with their team amidst shifting priorities, be a self-starter with a bias toward action, and be able to continually develop their team’s skills and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a team of investigators, technical personnel and analytical personnel executing the global content protection strategy.
- Recommend appropriate assignment and handling of cases, guide investigators as necessary, and identify enforcement options including both civil and criminal actions.
- Review comprehensive investigative reports ensuring they are well-written, well-reasoned, forensically sound, and actionable.
- Provide guidance and support to the team with a strong focus on team success and personal growth, by partnering with internal departments.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback via informal discussions as well as during the annual review process.
- Collaborate with MPA CP Managers, particularly regarding investigations, global CP strategy, and personnel.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with MPA attorneys.
- Identify areas of improvement in team processes and projects and hold team members accountable, as necessary.
- Work with external vendors to ensure the quality and timeliness of their deliverables relating to ongoing investigations.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of equivalent investigative or analytical experience
- Experience managing others preferably in anti-piracy, digital forensics, computer intrusion, incident response, threat intelligence, or similar investigations.
- Experience building relationships with cross-functional departments.
- Experience drafting and editing reports and assembling presentations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage competing priorities and deadlines in a timely, efficient, and productive manner.
- Creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to think outside the box.
- Display sound judgment, critical thinking, and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of equivalent investigative or analytic experience
- Advanced degree or professional certifications related to the job responsibilities listed above
- Experience with open-source investigation techniques.
- Experience in cross-border investigations involving multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience working technical investigations, particularly investigations involving intellectual property theft.
- Knowledge of legal and illegal online content distribution methods, including streaming video, online file hosting, and peer-to-peer file sharing.
- Basic understanding of computer crimes statutes.
