Stand-by Relief Projectionist

Under the direction of the CARA Chairman, the Projectionist will be responsible for the below job functions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Receive film or other media, prepare same and equipment for screenings and operate equipment during screenings.
• Run and maintain two screening rooms, and one projection room with the following equipment: (2) CP4220 4K Core Projectors with high contrast lens, DVD, and DV cam players, Dolby sound processors, video projectors and electronic video projector, Apple TV for screening via digital platforms.
• Answer any questions from the submitting applicant regarding the aspect ratio or elements that can be screened, or any other questions that may arise relevant to the screening.
• Review all screeners to ensure proper syncing, burn-ins and watermarks, sound, etc. 
• Maintain projection equipment in good order and deal with technical questions or problems that may arise.
• Knowledge of various film and video formats is essential

Experience and Skill

• Extensive experience in motion picture and video projection, including but not limited to film inspection and repair, projection equipment operation and maintenance, knowledge of basic optics, basic electrical knowledge, mechanical repair, minor sound equipment repair.
• Ability to communicate specific technical information with other motion picture technicians.            
• Ability to work alone without supervision solving technical problems as they arise.      
• Must have good eyesight and hearing; must be able to spend long periods of time on feet and do light to moderate lifting.
• Knowledge of film formats, video formats, and sound formats.
• Must perform well under stress during emergencies; the show must go on.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Experienced projectionist – Union Member (required)
