Position Overview :

The Motiva Compensation Analyst is a member of the Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits and Medical Team, reporting directly to the Director - Total Rewards & Medical. The role of the Compensation Analyst requires an individual that is detail orientated and has strong analytical thinking, problem solving, and project management skills related to the compensation discipline. This individual will support the Compensation Advisor in the effective, design, delivery and maintenance of Motiva's compensation programs as well as collaborate across the Human Resources function and leadership population.

Responsibilities :

Compensation Program Administration

  • Contribute to the administration of the annual Compensation Cycle, including annual merit, short- and long-term incentives programs, acting as a resource for the Compensation Advisor and HR Business Partners.
  • Collaborate with HR Information Systems Team on system requirements for administering compensation programs.
  • Analyze, design, and administer employee compensation programs, including base pay, short- and long-term incentives, market adjustments, and other forms of variable pay.
  • Assist with the ongoing administration of the LTIP / Equity program.
  • Contribute to annual Performance Review / Rating Calibration process, supporting the rating collection process and working closely with HR Business Partners and HR Information Systems Team.
  • Assist the Compensation Advisor to develop, implement and deliver training related to new hire compensation orientation as well as ongoing compensation administration programs for management and HR Business Partners.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of compensation policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to HR Business Partners and managers on compensation-related matters, including job evaluations, salary structures, incentive plans, and pay equity.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Compensation Advisor and / or Director, Total Rewards.
  • Leverage prior experience to identify opportunities for process and / or program enhancements.

Benchmarking, Job Evaluation & Job Architecture Governance

  • Responsible for taking the lead in participating and submitting the data submission file to multiple annual salary surveys.
  • Conduct research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity and compensation trends.
  • Evaluate and analyze compensation data to generate insights to support decision-making for salaried and hourly / union populations.
  • Maintain Motiva's job catalog and job architecture framework by evaluating jobs and performing various governance activities.
  • Benchmark roles and provide compensation recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, and other compensation actions.
  • Evaluate and align relevant market data and internal job grades to determine appropriate job grade and corresponding salary ranges and variable compensation targets.
  • Data Analysis and Compliance

  • Conduct FLSA compliance assessments as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of compensation-related data maintained within Workday, oversee the data integration and maintenance of compensation databases and systems.
  • Assist with various annual and ad-hoc compensation analysis required including equal pay reviews and merit / incentive modeling.
  • Respond to employee data audits, government audits, DOL data requests.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, summarizing findings and proposing actionable recommendations. May be required to present or co-present at company and / or leader meetings.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding compensation practices and procedures. Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders to resolve compensation-related questions / issues.
  • Experience and Qualifications :

    Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, finance, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in compensation within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proficiency in conducting job evaluations and salary benchmarking
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulation related to compensation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in analyzing and modeling large data sets in Excel utilizing lookups and pivot tables
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Ability to synthesize data into insights and actionable recommendations
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize numerous projects
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills and business acumen
  • Sound judgment, data-driven decision-making, and excellent follow-up
  • Collaborative and Team Player, proactive in partnering with HRBP's and Total Rewards Team members
  • Strong communication both written and oral
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented critical thinker

  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with HR Information Systems (Workday) and compensation benchmarking software (Payscale / Payfactors)
  • Oil & Gas / Energy industry experience
  • Experience engaging directly with senior leaders
  • CCP, PHR, SHRM-CP certification
