About the Role
Motivate seeks an experienced Director of Operations to provide planning, leadership, and oversight to ensure operational success and drive process improvements affecting the assembly and deployment, expansion, and maintenance of Citibike’s network of docking stations in the greater New York City area. You will drive operations and provide leadership for both warehouse and field-based teams.
Ensure the successful assembly and deployment, inspection, and maintenance, of all docking stations hardware and software components, as well as completion of quality control initiatives and capital projects, to ensure fulfilment of KPIs
Take ownership for assigned aspects of operations, including budget and labor cost management, operational plan, and P&L responsibility, achieving / exceeding expected margins
Facilitate external relations, building trust and a positive and productive relationship with our customer, through partnership and regular communications
Plan and oversee the execution of warehouse operations and overall inventory control
Plan, prepare, and oversee the execution of system-wide undertakings and process improvements related to stations and other specialized equipment
Initiate and complete data analyses on areas, examples of which are physical product, field operations, workflow efficiency, vehicle and facility usage, and other relevant topics, utilizing the results to drive decisions and monitor/report on performance
Review and implement processes and initiatives to further increase efficiency and effectiveness in obtaining KPIs and team management strategies
Hire, train, develop, engage, and provide overall leadership for teams of technicians, both warehouse and field-based
Develop and directly manage operations manager(s) to effectively train, engage, and supervise their employees through the full employee cycle
Drive and implement safety initiatives within the department to maintain a safe work environment, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met or exceeded
About You
You bring the right experience to the table: undergraduate degree in business, operations, project management, or related field with prior experience successfully managing operations teams and prior hands-on experience in a field-based operational role with a successful record of carrying out large, public-facing projects in a deadline-driven environment
You are safety-oriented: Experience with or understanding of heavy components, machinery, various construction equipment and tools, large vehicles, as well as the occupational safety requirements that go along with each
You are a leader of leaders: You have years of experience successfully leading/overseeing a management team leading by example; focus on their alignment, engagement, development, and performance
You manage successful large teams: including scheduling, hiring, training, coaching and accountability; with a focus on employee engagement, training, and development throughout the full employee life cycle. Prior experience with a union workforce highly desired
You are a team player: working cross-functionally across all departments within Motivate, taking the lead on projects while providing updates to key stakeholders
You communicate effectively: strong written and verbal communication skills with a variety of audiences, able to build and maintain key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
You are adaptable and results-oriented: Ability to react effectively in dynamic construction and maintenance project environments; bringing strong decision-making skills and an ability to solve complex problems with creative solutions and analyze complex data and processes
You have strong organizational skills: proven record of successful execution of large, public-work or similar projects, working efficiently with the ability to successfully direct multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
You utilize sound judgement: understand the importance of keeping information confidential; seek and consider multiple data points and opinions before making decisions
You are technology-proficient: well-versed in Microsoft Office applications, Tableau and database and data visualization skills a plus, with the ability to learn new software and hardware components quickly
You are flexible: understand that this role may require travel and work during off hours and weekends, as well as a regular presence at different locations around the greater New York City area
You are successful in a variety of work conditions:
Mix of warehouse, office, and field work environments
Varying weather conditions year-round
Driving company vehicles as needed - valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

Salary : $120,000 - $130,000
