What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist position at Mount Abraham Unified School District?
The Mt. Abraham Unified School District has an immediate opening for a full or part-time School Psychologist. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Support Services, the School Psychologist will support students’ learning, social development, and mental and behavioral health using problem solving, assessment, data-based decision-making, and the delivery of evidenced-based interventions. They serve as members of the district evaluation team to assess and support eligibility decisions for special education. In coordination with the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator, the School Psychologists will collaborate and consult with educators, families, and other professionals to help create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
• Performs all necessary and appropriate psycho-educational evaluations for newly referred students and re-evaluation of students
eligible in special education. This includes administration and interpretation of appropriate psychological tests, and provision of
recommendations to assist with intervention and remediation of student difficulties.
• Present comprehensive reports about assessment findings as they relate to current performance and access to core instruction at
evaluation report meetings and as needed by IEP teams to identify needs and develop appropriate programming.
• Promote academic achievement for all learners by providing consultations to staff concerning appropriate learning strategies to
access instruction and progress in the least restrictive environment. Assist teachers and educational assistants in setting
meaningful, measurable goals to monitor student academic progress.
• Promote positive behavior and contribute to the social emotional system of support by providing, across settings, technical
behavioral assistance, risk assessment, consultation, and clinical supervision of school personnel working with intensive needs
students.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments as needed by school staff, support teams in developing social emotional learning goals
and objectives in IEPs, and develop and monitor positive behavior intervention plans as implemented by school staff.
• Provide counseling services as needed to students in school setting to address social and emotional needs.
• Serve as an instructional leader and provide resources to develop a comprehensive system under the frameworks of response to
intervention, positive behavior interventions and supports, and Vermont’s Multi-tiered System of Support. Provide staff development
opportunities for educators to enhance systemic level supports.
• Provide services consistent with ethical, legal, and professional standards.
Salary Range: $56,818 - $95,803 per MAEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
