Equipment Maintenance Supervisor (2nd Shift)

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Performs research, design, and development of production equipment.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, modifying, rebuilding, and maintaining plant equipment.
  • Complies and enforces safety procedures/standards.
  • Complies and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Applies food safety engineering concepts when installing new equipment or improving existing one
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (EAM) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Schedules, plan and follow-up execution of activities for PM.
  • Analyzes delays during preventive and corrective maintenance activities in order to improve MTTR.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Ensures maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
  • Creates and update work schedules for technicians on assigned shift according to Plant requirements.
  • Hires maintenance technicians.
  • Develops and keeps updated maintenance routines, procedures, and schedules.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.
  • Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
  • Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
  • Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and supervise activities with mechanics and technicians.
  • Adequately carries out all activities related to security and quality of the finished product.
  • Must report any food safety and/or food quality problems to department supervisor.
  • Work with suppliers for equipment, spare parts, materials, services, or support in case of machine failure.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or related field) or 3 years in plant maintenance experience as a supervisor.

Technical skills in Physical Requirements

  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).

Salary : $60,000 - $66,000
