What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Case Manager - FT position at Mount Mary University?
The Student Case Manager at Mount Mary University will support the personal and academic success of students through ongoing case management support. The Student Case Manager will proactively engage with students and their families who have urgent and/or complex needs to identify concerns, facilitate access to on-campus and community resources, and provide continuous wraparound support. The Case Manager works collaboratively to triage, prioritize, and administratively manage a case load. This position is in the Student Affairs department of Mount Mary.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Actively connect students and their families with resources including on-campus and public benefits, aid for school supplies and transportation costs.
- Conduct needs assessment, triage, prioritize, and administratively manage case load.
- Function as a core member of Student Outreach and Support Team (SOST) which addresses urgent and critical student concerns identified by MMU faculty or staff through the early alert system or other communications. Provide student advocacy across campus and with outside agencies.
- Pro-actively develop a comprehensive resource directory that meets a wide variety of student and family needs.
- Work collaboratively with Student Affairs and Institutional Research to conduct university-wide assessment of student needs.
- Implement appropriate programs, groups, and initiatives to increase success of students with complex needs including student parents, proactively establishing rapport and support for students living in Trinity Woods.
- Function as a Student Affairs team member and execute other duties and projects as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong interpersonal skills including rapport and relationship building, conflict resolution, de-escalation and motivation strategies. Ability to explain complex processes in an understandable manner.
- Proven management of heightened situations, crisis response and complicated issues in a calm, professional, solution-oriented manner.
- Demonstrated capacity and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation for diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, staff, students and families.
- Effective case management skills working within a collaborative care team (preferred experience within an educational setting).
- Experience navigating confidential and sensitive information and situations with diplomacy while exercising sound professional judgment.
- Proven ability to prioritize work appropriately and adapt easily to changing priorities as well as work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in conducting presentations for varied audiences
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work
- Minimum three years of experience in a Case Manager role preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of theories and/or applied experience related to student development and learning.
Physical Demands:
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.

- Some repetitive motion may be required
