POSITION SUMMARY
The Application Analyst supports the successful implementation and operation of assigned modules/applications through effective planning, analysis, documentation, training and support. Individuals are expected to gain knowledge and experience that prepares them to advance to the Application Specialist II position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the area of assignment (administrative, financial, clinical or nursing) or the equivalent effective healthcare/application support experience.
Experience:
- One year experience in the area(s) of assignment (administrative, financial, clinical or nursing), which has provided the applicant with significant exposure to and knowledge of relevant operating policies and procedures, processes and interdependencies.
- Previous experience with computers, relevant applications, networks and client/server systems is preferred.
- Previous experience with IT Application support build, support, and maintenance
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen well to others is required.
- Organizational and motivational skills, including the proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and positively motivate non-subordinate personnel to achieve desired actions and outcomes is required.
- Effective teaching skills are required.
- Interest in, and enthusiasm for technology and its potential for improving inter- and intra-departmental efficiency and effectiveness is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Obtains and maintains an in-depth knowledge of assigned modules/applications as well as an awareness of associated hardware, operating systems, utilities and network infrastructure.
- Obtains, reviews, and maintains all available reference material and support documentation in order to maintain a strong working knowledge of assigned modules/systems.Attends all meetings and training sessions conducted by information system vendors relevant to assigned modules/systems.
- Seeks out and attends other relevant education and training programs that promote the successful implementation and support of assigned modules/systems.
- Maintains an ongoing awareness of developments in the information technology and related industries relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Serves as the contact person and facilitator for the assigned modules/systems.
- Serves as contact person for consultants, vendors, and Information Services personnel for ongoing maintenance/support of assigned modules/applications.
- Performs and/or monitors, supports and assists the ancillary department application coordinators in accomplishing the planning, scheduling, dictionary evolution and maintenance, testing and training activities to meet scheduled and budgeted systems implementation, upgrades and enhancements.
- Serves as the Help Desk resource for Health System personnel with concerns, issues and/or requests related to assigned modules/systems.
- Facilitates periodic collaborative meetings between ancillary departments (including other systems support personnel) in order to provide a forum for resolving issues/needs related to assigned modules/systems.
- Provides ongoing support to end-users in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of the Health System’s information systems throughout their life cycle.
- Coordinates all changes related to assigned modules/applications through appropriate standardized methods.
- Facilitates the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures, system training and documentation, including comprehensive downtime procedures, for all assigned end-user departments.
- Maintains an awareness of end-users’ needs, expectations and workflow (including interdependencies), and conducts periodic systems analyses and functionality assessments to assure compliance with acceptable operating procedures and effectively match, to the extent possible, user needs with system functionality.
- Facilitates effective solutions designed to meet required performance goals and end-user expectations.
- Identifies and pursues resolution of issues that arise within or between assigned modules/systems, and collaborates with other systems support personnel in order to promote the successful operation and integration of the Health System’s information systems.
- Strives to implement/maximize available system functionality, seeks system enhancements and/or identifies new application software that supports end-user needs as well as organizational and Information Service’s objectives.
- Documents, tracks and follows-up through resolution all reported problems, enhancement requests, and system change requests for the assigned modules/systems.
- Develops and maintains specific documentation necessary to maintain appropriate support of assigned modules/systems.
- Provides and/or facilitates module/system training as warranted in support of effective operations.
- Apprises Information Services management of all events and circumstances affecting the successful implementation and operation of assigned modules/systems.
- Serves as a team resource within the Information Services Department.
- Attends and actively participates on project teams as assigned and appropriate.
- Performs assigned tasks and provides feedback to project team leaders relating to assigned projects and processes.
