POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing the operations of finance in coordination with the Director System Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for implementing, documenting and maintaining effective procedures to improve the month end close process and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to provide accurate reporting of financial results.
The Assistant Controller supports Mount Nittany’s patient-centered service excellence and quality & safety standards while demonstrating strong financial stewardship through the maximal optimization of efficient operational processes.
The Assistant Controller assists the Director System Controller with
- Long-term strategic planning for the workforce
- Producing financial statements
- Forecasting Mount Nittany Health’s financial health
- Implement procedures to ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations
- Managing of accounting and auditing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or equivalent preparation preferred.
Experience:
- Five years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible healthcare administrative experience preferred.
- Three years progressive leadership experience.
4. Public accounting experience preferred.

License/Certification/Registration:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification required.
- HFMA CHFP (Certified Health Financial Professional) or FHFMA (Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association) preferred.
- Appropriate professional leadership certification preferred or required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives minimal supervision from the Director System Controller.

Direct oversight of areas including Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Payment Reconciliation
