What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Informaticist Educator position at Mount Nittany Health?
POSITION SUMMARY
Works with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) of Mount Nittany Health to assist with the creation, maintenance, and presentation of a broad library of training materials targeting clinicians at Mount Nittany Health with primary attention to the correct and efficient use of the electronic medical record systems. This individual assists in the design of optimization efforts as they relate to clinical use of the Electronic Medical Record Systems used at Mount Nittany Health.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Informatics, IT, Nursing, other clinical fields of study).
Experience:
- One year of work in a clinical setting (nursing, patient care, etc.).
Training experience preferred.
Experience managing projects preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Exercises strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in the area of communication between technical and clinical staff.
- Skill in communicating complex processes using multiple communication methods (presentation, written, recorded, and electronic).
- Public speaking ability.
- Strong ability to use written and recorded communication techniques.
- Good understanding of Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Strong abilities in use Microsoft Office Suite products (excluding Access).
- Experience in a health care environment.
- Effective teaching skills are required.
- Strong ability to manage projects.
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively toward stated goals

Receives supervision from Manager IT Clinical Informatics and Training. Works independently and collaboratively to achieve established goals and objectives, consulting and collaborating with others in the collaborative team environment as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serves as an author, presenter, and maintainer of educational materials to include, but not limited to, formal lectures, On Line Media (static and video), one-on-one interaction with clinical staff, and social media.
- Assists in development of optimized workflows for clinical needs as they relate to usage of the electronic medical record systems in use.
- Works closely with clinicians so that the clinical and organizational needs closely integrate with clinical workflow.
- Participates in the design, implementation, and integration of Clinical IT systems and infrastructure.
- Consults and coordinates with the CMIO.
- Remains current in health informatics in order to develop applications that increase efficiency in patient care.
- Supports organizational change using communication and educational methods.
