What are the responsibilities and job description for the On Snow Ski or Snowboard Patroller position at Mount Peter Ski Area?
On Snow Ski or Snowboard Patroller - $20/hr
Summary: On Snow Ski Patrollers assist in the overall management of slopes, trails and base areas at ski area. Skiing or snowboarding around the area, ensuring that users are following their duty as skiers and snowboarders, provide first aid and emergency response, and have the opportunity to improve your own ski or snowboard skills. Responsible for assisting guests with medical and safety issues by performing the following duties.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assists guests with medical issues and emergencies
- Skis or ride trails and slope areas to provide prevention, protection, and assistance to skiers and riders and report condition of trails, ski lifts
- Respond to reports of injured patrons on the slope and in base areas and transports them to First Aid if necessary
- Evaluate injuries and notify patrol director or crew chief in cases involving serious injury
- Inspects trails prior to opening, and on every subsequent pass down trails, and ensures that no skiers remain on slopes or trails at end of day
- Enforce mountain and area rules and policies
- Fill out reports and paperwork thoroughly and neatly
- Stays current on daily mountain reports and general mountain information
Qualifications:
o Must hold a current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Outdoor Emergency Care OEC or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification
o Must hold a current CPR certification for healthcare workers
o Must be able to ski/board expert terrain
o Must be willing to join the National Ski Patrol as a patrol member (OEC) or associate patrol member (EMT/WFR)
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
