Job Title : X-Ray Technologist
Job Specialty : Radiology

License : New York State Licensed Radiologic Technologist
Certifications : American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified)
Must-Have : Competency in performing diagnostic procedures, excellent communication skills in a team environment, quality focus, planning, people skills, dependability, creating a safe, effective environment
Job Description :
- Operate or oversee operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Prepare the patient for radiological procedures and adhere to safety measures for compliance with regulations and the safety of patients and staff.
- Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients to understand service requirements.
- Reduce patient anxieties by providing clear explanations of treatment and answering questions.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into the specified position; adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques with beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Adhere to established infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, processing radiographs, and observing radiographic results to make necessary adjustments.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, including the completion and verification of exams.
- Ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.
- Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by fulfilling regulatory CME requirements, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Complete yearly Age Specific Competency and other relevant duties as assigned.
