What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Lead - MSH position at Mount Sinai Health System?
Assist with oversight of daily laboratory operations of the Clinical Laboratories, Ruttenberg Treatment Center. Perform technical procedures in hematology-coagulation, follow required quality control and / or calibration procedures, review all critical test results, and consult with Supervisor or Pathologist on any conflicting or out-of-range results. Oversee and participate in technical operations including QA / QC checks, handling system maintenance issues, ensuring accuracy in test results, and general sample troubleshooting. Assist with inventory control to assure adequate supplies for the lab. Maintain daily schedules of laboratory personnel to ensure adequate staffing, oversee laboratory staff’s performance of qualitative and quantitative test procedures, help train other staff members, participate in performance improvement activities, and perform clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks as needed.Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science, plus 5 years of progressive post-Bachelor’s experience in position offered or as Medical Technologist or Laboratory Technologist in a laboratory or hospital setting. ORMaster’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science, plus 2 years of experience in position offered or as Medical Technologist or Laboratory Technologist in a laboratory or hospital setting. All required experience must have included determining blood cell counts by accurately quantifying red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets through manual and automated methods; and recognizing and interpreting abnormalities in blood cell morphology in support of diagnosing various hematological disorders.
