Position Responsibilities
- Ensures all films have proper catalog coding, indicating date, year, names and other pertinent patient information.
- As requested, copies and releases patient films and/or reports to requesting party in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. Obtains proper documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Files films, master jackets and reports in proper sequence after interpretation, in appropriate location.
- Ensures the scopes are loaded with films for physician interpretation. Retrieves films after dictation and returns to appropriate location in a timely manner.
- Separates, distributes and charts transcribed reports to nursing floor units, physicians offices, and other locations on a designated schedule.
- Separates and mails outpatient transcribed reports to referring physicians in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper us of the HBOC Star Radiology Film Library Program.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of the PACS Digital Radiology System.
- Demonstrates the ability to retrieve / scan films to /from the PACS Digital Radiology System. In addition, can "push" images to other locations throughout the Medical Center, as required.
- Demonstrates proper window level competency & knowledge when choosing required window level fields for specific procedures.
- Displays ability to adjust to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times.
- Works overtime in times of hospital or departmental emergency situations (i.e.. Hurricane disaster alert or staffing limitations).
- Informs supervisor of incomplete tasks or unusual events, which may warrant attention as necessary.
- Attends monthly department staff meetings.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year film librarian experience preferred; good visual acuity and depth perception is necessary.
