Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty : Labor & Delivery
Job Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : Day Shift, 7 AM - 7 : 30 PM, Every Other Weekend Required
Guaranteed Hours : 34.50
Experience : Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery, 1-year travel experience preferred for travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions
License : NYS RN License
Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP
Must-Have : Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing preferred; Associate degree in nursing considered with relevant experience and / or active matriculation in a BSN Program
Job Description :
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care.
- Apply the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs and use critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care including teaching, coaching, and planning post-hospital care.
- Educate patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their care plan, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Manage assignments within the Modified Primary Nursing Care Delivery Model.
- Demonstrate allocation of material resources effectively.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.
- Use evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care by identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Document in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements and standards of care.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based ensure and procedures.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinates with Clinical Coordinator / Manager to ensure sufficient inventory for patient care.
- Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care.
- Contribute to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice from novice to expert through continuous learning and scholarship.
- Facilitate shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
