General Statement of Duties:
The Part-time Career Development Counselor, reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management division, is responsible for facilitating student career development and assisting to build career communities via faculty/employer engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Student Support and Career Development: Provides career advising, career assessments, and job search assistance; connects students with employers, internships, and research opportunities.
- Employer Engagement: Actively recruit/collaborate with employers to support internships, exernships, and other learning opportunities, supporting the building of partnerships, and hosting employer visits and recruiting events.
- Workshops and Events: Delivers sessions on resumes, interviews, and career planning; assists with development of career fairs, orientations, and practicums; contributes to the building of college and alumni networking events.
- Academic Advising: Guides students on course selection and degree plans.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintains records, prepares reports, and uses software for data management and communication. Participates in site visits and evaluations to assess host sites.
- Collaboration: Engages with stakeholders, including faculty, employers, and community partners, to support student career initiatives, including conducting orientation programs or students, site supervisors, and faculty engaging in internship and other career-based learning opportunities as needed.
- Professional Development: Stays current on career trends and workforce needs through research, conferences, and training.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, or closely related field;
- Three (3) years' experience and/or training that includes career counseling, career placement, academic advising, veterans counseling, and records maintenance; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2-4 years experience implementing career plans and cooperative education experiences
- Experience working within a community college environment
- Project management oversight with multiple teams, managing multiple projects concurrently
- Bilingual
