What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Pastor position at Mount Zion Baptist Church?
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a high level of skill and expertise in youth ministry including:
· An unwavering, growing faith in Jesus Christ.
· Meeting the requirements of 1 Timothy 3.
· A clear calling to youth ministry and a passion to serve students, not just a desire for a career in ministry.
· Ideally, a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in youth ministry and a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. Candidates who do not meet these requirements may still apply, but must have very high level of skill.
· Being a pioneer, planner and calculated risk-taker who thinks big and takes big faith steps to reach many students for Christ.
· Growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ who makes disciples, who make disciples who make disciples
· An outgoing personality to whom students naturally gravitate.
· Someone who can fill every point of the job description listed above (gifted at teaching, leading, planning, engaging students, etc.)
PRINCIPLE FUNCTION: The most basic responsibility of the Overseer of Middle School is to continue to grow in his or her own relationship with Jesus Christ through personal devotions, bible study, fellowship and service. Should Exhibit the qualities from I Timothy 3:1-7; He or she will oversee all activities, programs, supplies, curriculum, budgets and personnel associated with youth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Coordinates, develops, and oversees Mt. Zion’s Middle School ministry
· Serves as a liaison between the Bishop and High School students of the church
· Regularly prays for young people in the church and community
· Develop, oversee and evaluate the curriculum used for all programs, events and classes
· Coordinates activities that build relationships, and creates a sense of community in the group
· Provides relevant biblical lessons/studies to help disciple students
· Represents Mt. Zion Youth Ministry with integrity throughout the community and world
· Demonstrates a passionate vision for the harvest of Christ and raises up leaders
· Develops a program that encourages the well-being of each Youth’s life educationally, financially, spiritually, and emotionally
· Develop, oversee and evaluate the youth ministry budget and all expenditures
· Recruit, train and equip key people to work as Middle school advisors
· Meet regularly with lay leadership for team-building and planning purposes
· Develop service and mission projects for youth to grow in service to the Lord
· Plan and coordinate camps, conferences and retreats and trips
· Attend staff meetings and any ministry or board meetings necessary to carry out the youth ministries of the church
· Be available for biblical counseling to students and their families
· Encourage teamwork and mutual support and providing leadership
and nurture to staff members who work in the ministry
· Communicate program plans with parents through regular mailings and/or parent groups
· Attend local Student functions at Middle and home school events while developing relationship within the education community.
