POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Housekeeper performs routine custodial/housekeeping work. This position is responsible for the cleaning and care of MCHC’s facilities and premises, and the maintenance of the equipment used in custodial services. The Housekeeper works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Specific Duties
- Works in harmony with healthcare professionals, clinic staff, and patients by exhibiting a positive attitude and a commitment to MCHC’s mission, vision, and values.
- Understands organizational goals and performs job duties in a manner consistent with those goals.
- Performs custodial/housekeeping functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash, and spray washing; cleans and maintains carpeted areas.
- Cleans and maintains facility restrooms, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning/sanitation chemicals as appropriate.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects patient treatment area (e.g., exam rooms, procedure/treatment room, etc.); washes lined and privacy curtains.
- Cleans office furniture, walls, windows, and floors.
- Inspects the facility and premises for cleanliness; reports needed repairs promptly and as appropriate.
- Handles and appropriately disposes of bio-hazardous medical waste and chemicals in accordance with established protocols; demonstrates an understanding of proper Infections Control practices as outlined in OSHA and JCAHO standards and in MCHC safety-related policies and procedures.
- Follows at all times established safety protocols, especially those involved in maintaining proper Infection Control.
- Participates in all staff educational and in-service training programs.
- Maintains patient and staff confidentiality.
- Demonstrates reliability and dependability in meeting work schedules, the fulfillment of responsibilities and commitments, in daily attendance, punctuality, productivity and efficiency.
