The first “no-kill” shelter in the state of Idaho (in 1999), annually we help more than 4,500 animals and touch the lives of more than 7,000 people through our programs. JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the oversight of all Mountain Humane facilities, including our thrift store location. The Facilities Manager will oversee the facilities and janitorial staff.  They will also oversee inspections, outside vendors, contractors, facility budgets, direct routine and preventative maintenance programs, building health during seasonal transitions, manage protocols for effective safety and emergency procedures, and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Facilities Assistant Manager, Program Managers, Board and department heads through-out the organization, in order to respond to organization needs.

Collaborates with: All staff as needed and appropriate

Supervises: Facilities Assistant Manager and facilities staff

Location: Hailey, Idaho


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in facilities management, construction supervision, building operations, and/or vendor/contractor relationship management

 

Experience with budgets and building management system software

 

Hands-on commercial building experience, engineering background

 

Experience or education relating to personnel management

 

Experience in Microsoft Excel functions and data entry

 

Ability to learn new software

 

Effective communication, customer service, and project management skills

 

Good troubleshooting and analytical skills

 

Organized and detail oriented

 

Must work well with the public, including children, persons of varied racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual preference, and with individuals who are differently-abled


Should exhibit a positive attitude, common sense, flexibility, and teamwork with ability to exercise independent judgment.

 

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Monitor and respond to the maintenance needs for each Mountain Humane facility, including grounds, vehicles, and equipment
  • Become familiar with building plans and schematics
  • Respond to maintenance service tickets
  • Evolve a facility wide cleaning plan
  • Regular monitoring of the building management system (BMS)
  • Assist with management of building software systems, including audio/video, security systems, lighting systems, irrigation system, and door hardware/access control
  • Assist with troubleshooting of building equipment and utility systems
  • Ensure mechanical system components meet manufacture recommendations for inspections, service and preventative maintenance
  • Hire, train, and manage members of the facilities team
  • Work with external contractors and ensure satisfactory craftsmanship
  • Research, budget, execute and oversee special projects and equipment replacement
  • Understand and comply with OSHA standards, fire code, and follow inspection schedules for all equipment such as elevator, fire extinguishers etc.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for fire and evacuation drills and perform staff trainings
  • Work with staff to develop protocols for relevant areas and emergency situations
  • Facilitate the needs for special event setup and clean up
  • Maintain thrift store and apartments to meet organization needs
  • Forecast, document and reconcile the building maintenance operating budgets
  • Review and monitor maintenance contracts and utilities to optimize cost and efficiency
  • Create and update standard operating procedures for current processes


GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed personal appearance
  • Wear supplied uniforms and closed toed shoes during all working hours
  • Comply with all facility safety protocols
  • Assist in maintaining overall facility cleaning standards
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Indoors and outdoors, including in shelter environment with dogs, cats, pocket pets
  • Frequent interactions with children who may or may not be well-behaved, occasional contact with the public in an emotionally charged environment
  • Animal handling required; while all adoptable animals have health and behavior screening, by nature of the industry, there may be occasional exposure to dead, injured, sick, unruly, vicious, and/or dangerous animals in addition to possible exposure to parasites and infectious diseases
  • May require driving of company vehicles. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Drivers information will be submitted to the carrier
    • Regular use driving of company vehicles; employee’s must be at least the age of 18
    • Occasional use driving of company vehicles; employees under the age of 18 must be preapproved by the carrier
  • Work day includes walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, lifting (occasionally up to 50 lbs), answering telephones, and using a computer, work with a variety of cleaning agents, and work in an environment with daily changes in climate


HOURS, SALARY & BENEFITS:

Hours: Full-time position, 40 hours per week, including nights & weekend days as necessary for scheduled maintenance, events, weather impacts, or facility related emergencies.  Final schedule to be determined with Supervisor based on organizational needs.

 

Salary: $45,000-65,000, depending on technical or management experience, certifications, proficiency in job tasks, and ability to work cooperatively with team members.
