JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the internal and external supervision of the Department of Radiology and all imaging services; which includes Ultrasound Imaging (US), Stress Test (TST), CT examinations, X-Ray examinations, Mammography, MRI and the staff of these departments.
Works with the Director of Ancillary Services to direct, plan, organize, and control radiology functions to:
- Assure that all imaging standards are consistent with the requirements of their specific regulatory bodies.
- Assure that resources are available to provide patient care in a cost-effective manner.
- Enhance cooperative working relationships in all imaging services and between departments.
- Enhance professional growth.
- Interpret hospital and radiology services policies to others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:
Function as a role model for all Imaging Services, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment and appropriate knowledge base. Demonstrate expertise in radiology procedures and management, and educate staff in imaging applications.
PROFESSIONALISM:
- Demonstrate an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
- Perform duties as a role model of professionalism for all staff.
- Promote personal mentoring activities and encourage others.
STAFFING:
- Ensure that both long term and short term imaging staff scheduling appropriately reflects:
- The needs of the department
- The patient care needs.
- The department experience and skills of each staff member in relation to the scheduled assignment for all modalities.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Appropriate Licensing and Certification required in imaging field of expertise preferred.
Prior experience with Ultrasound
A Graduate of an accredited or recognized school of imaging preferred.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Current BLS certification required.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
At least five (5) years imaging experience in a health related field.
Demonstrated clinical competence in imaging services.
Administrative and leadership experience required.

Ability to plan and project for the needs of the department.
Management and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication within the department and with other departments.
JOB KNOWLDEGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Research, interpret, develop, review, and revise policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to the radiology department and its management.
- Determine, obtain, and interpret appropriate legal procedures for radiology services.
- Determine, obtain, and interpret requirements of accreditation and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of management theory and practices.
- Render direct clinical radiology services as appropriate.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work standing on their feet 80% of the time.
- Lift more then 50 pounds routinely.
