The Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative (MLLC), located in the vibrant community of Thomas, WV, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Director to lead our unique Montessori-inspired learning center. We are a non-profit educational organization committed to providing meaningful learning experiences for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary students. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive, holistic learning environment for our students and families. MLLC is a WV education service provider registered as a microschool accepting HOPE Scholarships for eligible students and a WV Child Care Center licensed by the WVDoHS accepting Mountain Heart for eligible students.

Position: Director, MLLC Montessori Learning Center
Hours: Total of 32-40 hours per week. 32 hours/week are expected to be spent on-site while school is in session (September through May).
Location: MLLC Learning Center, Thomas, WV
Responsibilities: As the Director of the Learning Center, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the learning center and fostering a thriving learning environment for our students. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Staff Leadership, Management, and Professional Development:
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture among staff and volunteers.
- Supervise, support, and mentor staff and volunteers, promoting their professional growth.
- Guide staff in developing and delivering high-quality Montessori programming.
- Manage the hiring, training, and evaluation of staff members.
2. Facility Management and Compliance:
- Oversee facility maintenance, including cleaning, janitorial services, snow removal, and ensuring a safe and functional environment.
- Manage on-site operations such as fire drills, first aid administration, and emergency procedures.
- Handle day-to-day administrative tasks, including coordinating substitutes, filing incident reports, and tracking attendance.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Human Services standards and other relevant regulations.
3. MLLC Community Relations:
- Cultivate strong relationships with parents, staff, and the community, fostering a sense of shared investment in our Montessori programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and the community, representing MLLC with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Manage the student enrollment process.
- Coordinate and track community volunteer opportunities and administration.
Required Qualifications:
- Meet all requirements as outlined in WV Code §78-1-9.1 for Type II or Type III Child Care Centers: i.e. ACDS credential; or college credit including early childhood education hours; or related degree plus relevant work experience.
- Ability to pass a background check
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- WV STARS Professional Pathway Certification
- A successful background check and verification of educational degrees and certificates is a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in educational leadership and management.
- Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and community members.
- Experience in nonprofit administration.
- Experience with WV education policy and HOPE Scholarship administration.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office setting including working at a computer and filing.
- Ability to climb and descend flights of stairs multiple times a day.
- Ability to kneel, squat, and move during interactions with children.

Compensation: $20-23/hour depending on experience and open to negotiation
