Role Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for assessing client needs and monitoring behavior while at the program. Under the supervision of Operations leaders, the Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for documenting daily client participation and interactions, helping to coordinate treatment, execute daily programming, and transporting clients BHTs also may assist clinical and medical staff with crisis management, groups and education, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of all Behavioral Health Technician duties and/or documentation within Mountain Springs and state mandated timelines, within HIPAA guidelines
  • Conduct client rounds according to state protocols and document appropriately.
  • Assist with new client admission intake procedures according to Mountain Springs policies on all new admissions (urine analysis, belongings searches, and paperwork).
  • Administering detoxification protocols (completion of vital signs and rounds) on all detoxification clients.
  • Transportation of clients to appointments, meetings, and surrounding airports, etc.
  • Crisis intervention to include de-escalation of client situations, escalations to medical/clinical staff as needed.
  • Assist with supervision of clients with general household chores, cleanliness, and food preparation; clean up as required.
  • Assist and participate with on-site activities, support groups, outings, and community meetings, as assigned.
  • Recognize individuals under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and document appropriately.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and continuous education.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of the use and misuse of chemicals and alcohol.
  • Understanding and/or experience in crisis management.
  • Possess knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Knowledge of manual blood pressure and pulse measurement techniques.
  • Experience with client transportation or similar duties in a professional environment is preferred.
  • Preferred candidates should be able to work well within a team and independently, effective communication skills, time management, ability to problem solve, and strong professional boundaries.
  • Preferred candidate must be sensitive to religious, ethnic, and cultural differences.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification or willing to obtain
  • Must successfully complete Background Check, Drug Screen, and TB Test ***Successful completion of a pre-employment background screen and drug screen (including THC/marijuana) is required for employment with our organization.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations to include standing for long periods, walking for extended periods, climbing up and down stairs, lifting up to 20 lbs., and working in an outside environment in varying weather conditions.
