Job Qualifications

Education:

A BA/BS in accounting, business or related area preferred but not required; OR 1-2 years of comparable work experience. Certification in Medical Billing, or comparable work experience strongly preferred.

Rate of Pay: $23.50 - $29.00 Dependent Upon Experience

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Medicaid and/or Insurance billing experience strongly desired.
  • Experience with Therap preferred.
  • A strong desire to follow the data, identify, and track down discrepancies.
  • Experienced at efficiently and effectively working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to learn independently and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The position requires computer literacy including proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, the use of formulas, mail merge, and import/export.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic accounting principles and to work independently.

Other Requirements:

  • A Criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards.
  • A valid Colorado Driver’s license.
  • Verified legal status to work in the United States.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent walking, sitting and occasional standing and driving; occasional balancing, stooping, bending; frequent handling objects, and reaching with hands and arms; and constant finger movements. The position requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 25 lbs. The position also requires ordinary talking and hearing capability; full vision capabilities; and the ability to read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, and reason and analyze on a constant basis, and to perform calculations frequently. Work is performed using a computer and standard office machinery daily and occasional use of a vehicle.

There are inherent risks in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. May be subject to name calling or other verbal insults in addition to physical aggression including, but not limited to, hitting, kicking, spitting, slapping, punching, throwing objects, etc. MVDS provides general and specific training to best prepare staff to prevent, and/or manage these occurrences.

Essential Functions

Process and submit Medicaid billing for all programs through various collections methods, including: EVV, Data Entry, Attendance, and ISP Data.

Process and submit private insurance and other billing as needed.

Pull week Remittance Advice and reconcile payments to billing.

Identify and resolve all billing issues and denials in a timely manner.

Responsible for SLS Family Caregiver billing.

Check t-logs/ISP Data/Attendance daily. Ensure that all individuals who attended have a t-log, ISP Data and the attendance matches those logs and is entered correctly.

Approve the attendance entry after verifying records and attendance. Report any missing items to Director and appropriate manager.

Update spreadsheets of information regarding program enrollment regularly.

Enter Services Authorizations into Therap and compile a list of revisions that need to be made. Enter revisions into Services Authorizations and rebill.

Work closely with managers and directors to ensure all billing issues for the department are identified and corrected in a timely manner.

Other Required Duties

Standards of Behavior/Conduct

  • Respond to all requests for information or communication in a timely manner.
  • Report all on-the-job injuries to immediate supervisor and Director of Human Resources within 24 hours of the occurrence and provide a detailed account of the events leading to the injury.
  • Respond as a Mandatory Reporter. Report all incidents of suspected client rights violations, mistreatment, abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately according to Colorado state law and MVDS policies and procedures.

Attendance and Scheduling

  • Report for work on-time and as scheduled.
  • Enter daily, accurate timekeeping records in timekeeping database.
  • Attend all regular staff meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisory or administrative staff members.
  • Work schedule as assigned.
  • Have all time-off requests pre-approved.
  • Be responsible for own transportation to work.

Competencies

  • Complete all mandatory new hire requirements and training as identified by the State of Colorado and Mountain Valley’s training requirements within 90 days of hire and maintain courses and certifications as required.
  • Maintain skills with computers, take advantage of new technology, learn new tools quickly, use technology to enhance job performance and increase productivity. Maintain current understanding of technical processes/equipment.

Adherence to policies and procedures

  • Adhere to MVDS policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure effective functioning of Mountain Valley’s programming.
