Position Overview:

The Executive Director (ED) of Mountain View Community Center (MVCC) serves as the Chief Executive Officer and provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure the organization's mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for financial sustainability, program effectiveness, and overall organizational management while serving as the primary advocate and spokesperson for MVCC.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Maintain a strong and transparent relationship with Mountain View Lutheran Church (MVLC) as the building owner, major donor, and founder.
  • Develop and implement MVCC’s strategic plan in alignment with the organization's mission and vision.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment between governance and operations.
  • Represent MVCC at community events and meetings, as well as with media outlets, to increase visibility and impact.
  • Provide program, organizational, and financial planning leadership with the Board and staff, ensuring policies and strategies are effectively implemented.
  • Foster a work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates high-quality staff and volunteers.

Fundraising & Financial Management

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including donor cultivation, grant writing, special events, and foundation engagement.
  • Work with the Finance Committee and Board to develop an annual budget, ensuring adherence to financial policies and sustainability.
  • Ensure financial transparency through timely reporting, compliance with nonprofit tax filings, and audit preparation.
  • Maintain financial reserves and budget contingencies as required by Board policies.

Program Development & Community Engagement

  • Lead programmatic development to align with community needs and organizational goals.
  • Oversee programs supporting successful kids, hopeful families, and active seniors, ensuring effective volunteer and staff participation.
  • Promote partnerships with local governments, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders to expand MVCC’s reach and impact.
  • Publicize the organization’s activities, programs, and goals to enhance community awareness and engagement.
  • Work with the Board to create and maintain a community advisory group for broader stakeholder input.

Operations & Human Resource Management

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring effective management of staff, volunteers, and resources.
  • Recruit, hire, terminate, supervise, and support staff while fostering a positive, engaging work culture.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, nonprofit regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain official records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and funder expectations.
  • Establish performance evaluations, personnel development plans, and succession planning to maintain a strong team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, leadership, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, community development, social services, or professional services organization.
  • Proven track record in revenue generation, fundraising, donor relations, and financial management.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and leading strategic planning efforts.
  • Strong knowledge of Washington State nonprofit regulations and employment laws.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for community-driven initiatives and a deep commitment to MVCC’s mission.
  • Strong preference given to candidates that reside within the MVCC service area (Fife, Milton, Edgewood).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 DOE.
  • Position Type: Full-time, salaried, exempt.
  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent use of a computer, including extended periods of screen time.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally for meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required to attend events and meetings.
